Hydraulic cylinders are used as linear actuators to apply unidirectional force and stroke in many Engineering applications. Hydraulic cylinders are used to create mechanical force in a linear motion. They are used to lift something, push something, press something, and many other types of work.

Clevis mounts are pivot mounts and allow the cylinder to pivot in a single range of motion. This type of mount is useful in applications where the cylinder is required to pivot through an arc during extension and retraction. This makes it a common mounting type, especially for mobile equipment such as excavator booms.
Rod-end clevis attachments are suitable for linear (push or pull) and non-linear load travel. A rod-end clevis attachment provides a coupling to rotate about and keep the force transfer along the centerline of the cylinder during actuation. Spherical eye attachments can be used in applications where the load is pushed or pulled in a linear path.
